At first I thought cleo had sweet itch through the summer found it weird she just had it on her bum though, then back in November realised it can't be still so done a bit of research and realised it could be pinworm,
Treated her with equest, passed one or two, so was then advised by local horse feed store I needed to do pramox to clear it but again it passed one or two and she is still really bad. Has now got to the point of she is so stressed by the irritation she is kicking the stable. This is totally out of character she is such a laid back sweet little mare normally.
I have now read success stories with people using the pancacur 5 day guard then 4 weeks after do a shot of strongid p. which I am going to do tomorrow.

Anyone have any other suggestions? I have cleared the stable with disinfectant each time, washed haynets, head collars ropes, and buckets and bowls all with disinfectant.

She is stabled 24/7 at the moment unfortunately as fields are trashed at our yard as its really badly flooded with all this rain

Strongid P is very good for getting rid of pinworm - if you do a search, lots of threads should come up, but I'm sure that is the wormer to go for.

Equest Pramox is also a good one.

Yes apply ivermectin ( i think thats what it was) lotion to the bum area and the dock every day for a month along with worming .

Panacur 5 day has always cleared adult pinworms in my horses, this was recommended by the vet. Just maker sure they are eating the feed and getting the full dose!

i found my mare has this at the end of november. I did a double dose of strongid p - it HAS to be a double dose, and repeated 4 weeks later. she is clear now:) Yes, I disinfected everything too.

A friend of mines horse had terrible trouble with pin worms, he rubbed his bottom and tail bald and it looked like elephant skin. In the end the only thing that seemed to work was covering his bottom in oil (not sure what type - was cheap from vet) which made it difficult fot the worms to grip or lay their eggs and probably didn't taste nice to them either
