I fell off today right onto my back (very fast!) and i think that my back protector absorbed most of the impact, does this mean that i have to replace it like you do with a hat?? ive had it for about 6 years and this is the worst fall i've had. if i do have to replace it, which new back protector would you advise?

I did the same thing last year and the bp took the brunt of it. I wondered the same as you and asked in the saddlers, who told me it's not the same as a hat and the bp would still be OK, as it's mostly foamy stuff. Hope she was right...

yep, I think that a bp wouldn't neccessarily need replaced after a fall like a hat, as long as it is intact, not torn or dented. However, I read somewhere they should be replaced after 4-5 years anyway as the foam starts to degenerate and become brittle with age.

I've just bought a Racesafe after a bad fall from my young horse. I'm really pleased with it, it's much more comfortable than I remember my old one was, I usually forget I've got it on!
