Trying to get my head around the criteria for qualifying in BD and need some help please :)

I am competing at Prelim, only started BD in August last year. My results in classes that are Summer qualifiers so far are 62.95%(2), 70%(6), 64%(3), 66%(4), 67.3%(4) and 69.8%(5).

I have put what I think each score equates to in points in brackets after each score.

Am I right in believing for qualification purposes only I have 24 points therefore will qualify for the regionals?

I would really like to do the Area Festival though as one is very close to me in October. If I do the summer regionals I believe I can't do the Area Festival?, but if I don't do the Summer Regional can I do the Area Festival even though I have enough 'points' to do the Regionals?

I find the BD rules a little confusing over this! If anyone could help clarify the above I would be very grateful, thanks in advance :D

You need 19 Q points in tests over 65%, so I think you have that.

You can't do the Area Festival and the Regionals at the same level in the same year. You could do the Area Festival this year, and then do the winter Regionals in February 2015. To do that you just need to make sure horse has no more than 49 points at the time you get your qualifying scores for the Regionals. You also have to remain a group 7 or 8 rider. I can't remember off the top of my head what puts you up into a group 6 rider - it's either gaining any points at elementary or it might be gaining over 14 points at elementary.

You can still do the Area Festival even though you have enough points to so the regionals.
