Wonky is not as bad as Bella, is younger, and may be able to be helped without major surgery and the rescue is funding the treatment.
Bella already shows withering of the lower limb bones so is much less straight forward case.

According to Facebook, Bella has had two weeks with her owners and has still not seen an ortho vet - why hasn't the rescue pulled her back? Surely they would not have let her out without an assurance that everything appropriate would be done for her?

I think the police should get involved "to investigate the day light robbery of fund raising" when the dog is not a (rescue) but has an owner who can (by means of a loan or credit card pay the bill.

On a more hiddeous note whoever wrote that about the cyber bullying and (police investigations) is non to bright:eek:

And this dog has been taken in by a rescue:confused: (never seen a specialist vet or a vet of any kind and then been rehomed :confused: is this correct?

Of course if the police do get involved there is every chance that they may decide Bella is "of the type".

There are some real gems on the facebook page eg. "I have just heard that there are a few people out there who think that either this is a scam, or that Bella should be destroyed, rather than put to sleep."
What is the difference?

For myself, I have not written anything I would not say face to face - there is another photo on the "rescues" site from 7th February which, although not much better that the one on the original link, shows the degeneration of Bella's pasterns.

It takes a day or two at most to arrange to see a vet with an interest in orthopedics and get a first opinion and maybe x rays.

Duty of care anyone?

Or maybe they could investigate why this so-called animal lover is neglecting her legal responsibilities to this dog under the Animal Welfare Act

What about the whole charity *cough cough* bit actually private owner asking for donations. Fraud, anyone?

I'm not even going to ask the OH what the police would think to this: he would roll his eyes and go 'Oh, bloody Facebook'.

Well, now I'm truly stunned. Bella's owner would put Wonky to sleep straight away - but would not do that for Bella. So leaving aside the begging for money issues, she'd pts a dog that requires only correct nutrition and physio but try to "save" a dog that needs surgery that has little no chance of leaving the dog pain free.

The lack of understanding is incredible:(
