Hi, I am looking at putting a surface on top of our very very deep silica sand in our menage...i want to get rid of the deepness of the sand, is Springtek any good for this or Springride shred ?

I cant jump the horses higher than about 3 foot due to the rubbish sand surface..

Thanks for any opinions on this, not got a clue myself !

In my opinion if your sand is deep there isnt much you can do about it. Have you considered getting it analysed? I had some silica sand (topped with rubber) once that rode deep and I found out it was single sized and round - so in effect it was like riding on a bag or marbles, you just went straight through it.
It would never compact as it needs to be angular and different sized.
I tried putting binding fibres and like a felt material which claimed to bind the sand but although it made it slghtly better it was still deep and even worse when it was dry.
In the end we took it all up and I put down Trackright and rubber which is wonderful, easy to maintain and never rides deep whatsoever.
I think you would be throwing more money away by adding something to it as the end result I would think is that all if it would need to be taken up.
I would get the sand analysed first just to see if it is angular or not though.
Good luck.

We had a problem withour sand school being deep in places and were recommended to add 'Clopf' which is basically shredded material - looks bit weird but has really sorted the surafce out.
