The girl who puts him out for me text and said he was going mad, bucking in his stable and running around.. It took two of them to get a rug on and turn him out

No one knows what could have caused this but its the 2nd time in 12 months, the other time they thought it was a mare in season coming past. (I was in hospital) He is normally so well behaved and shows no signs of being bothered by mares

Its normal turn out time, she wasn't late, the others were not early

It really is out of character, they fed him in the field and he seems fine now

But what on earth could have caused it?

I should be SJ later but now not sure what to do

None of the others had gone out before him.

I honestly don't know whether it could have been colic, but he has eaten his breakfast fine in the field and they say he seems fine now

I will be going down shortly as supposed to be doing the SJ at lunch time.

Is it possible there hs been a bit of spring grass coming through with this warmer weather?

could be. Maybe he feels like spring is coming. he is a sensitive lad who really really loves life so could just be he woke up early and couldn't contain himself.

He does occasionally get so excited he can't control himself, but usually that's when jumping or in a full warm up arena lol

Two of mine were having a little bucking competition this morning too, Just high spirits and Spring is definitely in the air today. Don't over-analyse it. Go and have some fun SJ and let him use up some of his excess energy.

My horse last did this when he had colic he started off with a very swishy tail and then started to double barrel the side of the stable in episodes so think it was spasmodic. Colic fortunately turned out to be fairly mild but he was eating right up to the point that I realised what was going on and took his hay away.

However - He also had a similar fit when a tick was walking across his back. I was stood talking to a friend when suddenly he started cavorting around the stable.

Also once when he had been put on full-livery whilst I was on holiday he was the last in
the row to be fed he started bucking in his stable I witnessed it the day that I arrived back and thought OMG what's upset him them I realised he was having a bit of a tantrum because he was last to be fed. The bucking was totally out of character.
