Ok, neighbour has gone away for two weeks & I'm looking after her cats. One of the cats - a young Persian type, recently rescued from a "collector" of cats - is sneezing alot & has a very watery eye. Seems bright enough in itself & is eating & drinking as normal. I will take her to the vets if necessary, but just wondering if it could be hayfever & if so, what the treatment would be?

Thanks for reading!:)

Having had a long standing similar problem with yard cat vet said cats dont get allergies! dont know if its true , sorry not much help

My cat has the same problem with her eyes being very watery and sneezing. I was worried it was cat flu but she has had it for a few years now and I tried her on eye drops from the vets and they didn't seem to work so i have just left them as they are. I just clean them out for her and she's fine.

Yes they can but I think it is quite rare. We had one in the cattery last year, we thought it was a virus so isolated, monitored etc then decided to take to vet. Vet confirmed allergy and prescribed Metacam to reduce inflammation of the sinus membranes. Probably would be worth a quick visit to vet if you can just to confirm. Our customer's cat improved overnight with medication thank goodness as constant sneezing was causing it quite a bit of discomfort.
