As per title really! I have got through to the bit where I unscrew the existing gullet. But the screws are SO overtight there is no way I can loosen them, it's just biting into the screwdriver and the thread on the screws is gone. I am a very strong person so I am not being feeble, I promise you? Is there a knack? Otherwise it will have to go to a saddler. Bummer!

Mine did this and the only way to unscrew was to drill the screws out

GULP! Boyf just suggested some WD40? I am so annoyed as I am NOT being feeble, there is no way any human strength could shift these things, they have been tightened by machine and are just not moving!

So shame on you Wintec - these things are not doable like you say on the ads <scowl>

Hi, I've got a Wintec and change the gullet quite often as use it on different horses and have never had this problem. I'm sure if you take it back to the shop you bought it from they will be able to sort it for you. Good Luck !

Thing is, I got it off a private individual second hand, not a shop. Think it will have to have a professional saddler look at it - which is a total pain. Money I do not have and yet more time off being ridden for the horse. VERY underwhelmed, as because I said, I'm not a weakling or anything! <frown>

i had the exact same problem with my wintec when i bought it, even the shop couldnt get them out, in the end i left it with my dad and he took them out (no idea how though sorry) but i had to use the new bolt set that came with the new gullet i got to put in it as the bolts were knackered

I bought a WOW saddle (a hell of a lot more money than a wintec!) and one of the screws were so tight I couldn't get it out. I nearly cruied when they said they'd beed to take it back adn drill the whole thing out

Instead I WD40'd it, left it over night and hey presto, it screwed out

Relief.

Drilling the screw out itsn't hard in a wintec - the other side of the hole has a t-haped thread, held in by two little staples i.e the thread for the screw isn't fitted into the points. You get a new one when you buy a new gullet. If you do have to drill it out it's easily and cheaply replaced.
