I am looking to buy a new riding hat, and I want it to be well ventilated as I get very hot headed in a normal skull even on the milder days. I turn into a sweaty tomato its very embarrassing.:mad:
I've been doing a lot of research and have my eyes on a few hats. These are;
Troxel (Spirit, Intrepid)
Harry Hall Legend
Just Togs JT EquiLite
John Whitaker Victory
I really need it not to break the bank, and although the Whitaker is the most recommended by everyone I've asked, its bloody expensive (for my budget anyway). The Troxel and Just Togs hats are the cheapest although they're not exactly "pretty" and they have VERY varied reviews.
But anyway, I was wondering if anyone had any reviews on these hats, or had any other decent brands to throw in the mix that I could consider. My size is 58. Thank you ^^

I've got a Champion Ventair skull, and I have to say I'm very impressed at the lack of sweaty headness! I've used it for hunting, team chasing and a fairly high intensity SJ lesson so it's had a fair testing too! Wasn't cheap (around £100) but I don't put a price on my head!

ive got a champion ventair and have found it really comfortable and definitely less sweaty than a normal hat....my friend has a troxel and she says its very comfortable and keeps her head cool..

I had a couple of Troxels and really liked them. They scored highly in a BHS hat test a few years ago. I replaced the first after years of use and the 2nd after a bad fall. I then got a Champion Ventair but find it much hotter so save it for shows. I got a Sportage Tipparary from USA via ebay and really love it. It has US safely certs but does include the new ones required here next year (PAS....,?)

The best is the one that fits! Sizes vary not just between brands but also within them. Hats come in different shapes and quite often you need some fit strip as no one has a perfectly round or oval shaped head!
