HELP - Clipping Disaster!!

Sorry FBW I just laughed out loud at the second picture. She didn't look too bad in the first then bam! She looks like she's been painted by Monet.
I say this as someone who only ever tried clipping once and gave up so I'm definitely laughing with you not at you.
I bet she looked great a week or two afterwards though.

It did take her a while to grow that monstrosity out! I bought those photos from the pro that day, just to look at if ever I start feeling too confident in my horse skills! ?
 
Well this discussion has turned out completely hilarious ? thanks all.

Starting to look a lot better now thankfully and looms better in natural light than the lights in his stable as seem to make lines throw shadows which makes them look a lot worse than they really are.

My girl will probably be sporting an interesting clip tomorrow. I think she has mites and I need to take off her feathers….however she is itchy most of the way up her hind legs so I think I’ll end clipping out her legs up to the stifle and round her tail.
Thing is, I’m not sure I want to clip her front legs (they are not itchy) so she’s going to look cut and shut.
She‘s retired so I can’t really fully clip her out and say it’s because she gets hot in work.

Just needs evening out, go from underneath with the clippers and flick
Up the way to blend in ? super shiny , what a lovely coat ♥️

Try and get some small quiet trimmers and do a bit at a time while feeding treats, I did this with one of mine who would rear if you went near his face with clippers, he now let's me do most of the bottom half of his face with the big clippers.

It's a nice straight line along the face but this is incredibly picky of me but I would take it higher to where the bridle would sit then you don't see the line at all when the bridle is on, but I understand some leave it lower for warmth so ignore me if you wish as he still looks lovely ?

Had to also add that the face hair normally is finer the higher you go so sometimes you don't even get a line especially on a early clip.

Ive tried and failed lol. Its going to have to be work in progress as he wanted to kill us and himself. We gave up as someone or him was going to get hurt. He allowed the quiet trimmers near but the moment they cut any hair he totally freaked out. Crazy thing was he was grooming me whilst the lady clipped the rest of him, this was with ears plugged. Its looking like a 7/8ths clipped pony for now lol!!

It takes time you will get there honestly my horse was terrible would rear vertical if I went anywhere near his face and ears, I just did little bits while feeding pony nuts and over the years his got much better.

His the horse in my avatar on the right and you can see he has the bottom half of his face clipped, took me a few years to get him to accept it but his ok most of the time although he will try and bite the clippers occasionally ?
 
My pony detests clippers with a passion. My mare loves them and has a snooze while being clipped. I have found when it comes to my pony 2ml of sedaline (or similar) makes it a quicker and more pleasant job for both of us. I try to only clip him 2x a year also, first in October before opening meet, and then just after Christmas/beginning of January.
