I’ve been looking into becoming a qualified instructor as I used to be an assistant instructor at one of my old jobs and I actually have a lot of riding knowledge (I just don’t always apply it to my own riding!!)

I’ve heard about both BHS stages and UKCC but I’m confused. Which would be the most beneficial for somebody who mainly wants to teach younger riders (children - teenagers) who arent affiliated in a freelance basis. The more I read, the more I confuse myself!!

Thanks in advance!!!

When research is done, BHS qualifications always seem to come out on top, especially for more grassroots riders.

With UKCC, unless you do it through the Pony Club, you will need to go for a discipline specific qualification. The BHS looks over all 3 main disciplines.

BHS assesses your riding and horse care skills. UKCC assess your coaching skills only.

Ah brilliant. That’s what I thought, especially for the type of rider I would want to be teaching. I just saw something about UKCC coaches and how they’re more desirable in freelance instructors. But I suppose they meant for more competitive, advanced riders.
