Help! Does anyone know how to get Cribox paste out of horse fur?

As title! My pony's underneck is caked with the wretched stuff, from where he has been putting his head over the fencing and chatting to his neighbours.

I have tried brushing it, washing it out with shampoo and fairy liquid all to no avail. I am now resorting to cutting sections of it out with scissors which makes him look a real mess :(.

Any magic tricks for getting the bleddy stuff out? Huge thanks!
 
Oh, I was going to suggest Fairy..................?? Only other thing I can think of is those industrial hand cleaners like Swarfega that break down grease.
 
My pony got some hammerite paint on his neck, I got it off with a "simple" facial wipe! Worrying what they must do to your skin but it worked really well so if the other recommendations don't work it maybe worth ago!
 
Baby wipes don't work at all - already tried them but pony smells lovely :D.

Sticky Stuff Remover!! Yes there's something to give a go.
