Help! Dog boarding in East Devon? Recommendations anyone?

For the first time in goodness knows how many years (about 15, I think) we're taking a holiday where we can't take the dogs along so I'm having to think about who'll look after them whilst we're away in January. They're both bitches, a 7yr old lurcher (Spyda) and an 18m old whippet (Merty) and although we've considered booking a pet sitter to come in a couple of times a day to feed and walk them, my OH doesn't think it's fair for the dogs to be left on their own most of the time for 17 days. He's got a point. But on the otherhand I don't think our whippet would be happy in a kennel environment for so long, either. No even with Spyda for company. So I started wondering if there were people who take dogs into their homes for holidays? Does anyone know of anyone in the East Devon area offers does this service and recommend them?

I know if I can't find anyone, we'll HAVE to book the girls into a kennel so if anyone knows of any good ones near Axminster/Honiton/Lyme Regis area that would be good to have too. Many thanks

Not in east Devon but if you don't mind travelling to just outside Exeter there is a lady in my village who does exactly what you want.

She does dog day care,holiday care and socialising etc.
