For the last few weeks our black lab has been sneezing. She does it in the house or on walks. She really sneezes, proper face screwed up etc. Our jrt hasn't sneezed at all. A couple of friends have said their dogs are also doing it. Has anyone any ideas what could be causing it?

My springer/collie was sneezing a few weeks ago and at the same time a friend's two labs had very runny eyes and were also sneezing. She took hers to the vet as one is only 4 months old and she was worried about her, vet diagnosed conjunctivitis and gave her drops, they have cleared up and mine has stopped sneezing now. My other springer had both the runny eyes and excessive sneezing but with her too it passed in a couple of days. Also another friend living about 15 miles from us has a springer who had runny eyes and sneezing at the same time as mine and again it cleared up on it's own after a couple of days. Hope your's will be ok.

Thanks for your reply. She doesn't seem to have sore eyes so hopefully no conjunctivitis. She is a gun dog and has been out with other dogs alot recently. She has possibly picked something up. Will keep an eye on her and hopefully it will clear up. Thanks again x

Years ago, we had a Norwich Terrier that started sneezing so violently that his little nose would hit the ground at the end of the sneeze. The breed is very short-legged, so that wasn't a great distance for his muzzle to go. After a couple of days of this, I took him to the vet. They found a blade of grass in his nose and when it was retrieved with a pair of forceps, it just kept coming until almost 8 inches of soft, brown, wet, limp grass was on the exam table. How he got it up there, only the dog knows!

Poor little terrier, bless him!!! Could be wrong but I don't think it's anything like that as I would assume it would annoy her most of the time? She hasn't done it so violently today.
