husband said name what you want for christmas so i said a new saddle for the big horse(dont have one at the moment as hes been roughed off since may coming back into work in feb sold old one as i hated it) so after trying to figure out which one i like i have decided on a bates close contact. tonight when picking hubby up from pub he says that £800 is a lot to spend on a saddle (if only he knew) and he'd rather buy me another horse with that money that i can sell on and use the money to get better saddle.............. so what do i do saddle or another horse ? (i have bought a thorowgood saddle off ebay to do big horse for now)

Saddle, its a dodgey business buying and trying to sell on for a profit, by time you add in the cost of keeping them, any vets bills etc...

i know .MEN why do they always do this should have ordered saddle when he left me his card instead of waiting to see if i can get one in the sales DOH. what does he think i'm gonna use to ride this horse with anyway ? ha think i've found a flaw in his plan ! might end up with new horse and new saddle .....

I like your style...............alternatively cost out how much new horse will be in terms of buying keeping etc.....then you could have a gold plated saddle!!!..............

.....2nd thoughts probably best if he never finds out that buying them is the 'cheap' part!!!!

think it will cost about £50 ish extra a month i have my own stables and fields hes a joiner so i get shavings from him. only shoes , insurance and a bag of extra feed are all that are needed i think. he knows that keeping them can be expensive big horse had an abscess on his neck in sept which wasn't cheap to sort out! in terms of extra work as i have to get the big horse fit anyway and break the youngster in an extra one wont be much more work. but what can you get for under £1000 ?

thats what i thought when i had a quick look. horses are as a rule cheaper round here might wait for the next auction not keen on auctions thou.

i know tell me about it. wish i had a crystal ball 6 years ago when coloureds were seen as rubbish i got my old 13.2hh mare for £150 and sold her in july for £1500 !!!(prob spent more over the years but did have a foal think that evens it out) god dam fashion !!

Yeah we would all like a crystal ball like that!! Those were the days, when you couldn't give a coloured away!!! I have a coloured cob (brought before they were fashionable), still would have preferred a chestnut, but there is no accounting for taste!!!

Oh decisions decisions? I'd prob go for the nice saddle! but who cares about that, where did you get such a fantastic husband? got any more where he came from!! tee hee hee!
