HELP!!!! Dont know what to do

I share my field with a women who has a mare and 4 month old foal. My ponies are fenced off in one half of the field with electric fence all round the perimmiter ( i need this due to one of my ponies having sweetitch and will rub on anything). The foal has now started taking down the middle fence separating my horses from the mare and foal, this is resulting in my two escaping and my pony with sweetitch has now rubbed his bum and tail raw due to him ben able to rub on a metal gate. the foals owner never mends the fence or even offers to pay for the plastic posts her foal has broken. i just feel so fed up and dont know what to do ( wether to ask her to move the foal to another field or at least contribute for some new fence and posts) Please help
 
You could cover them in crib box, or something else that's not very nice tasting.
He obs finds it all a bit of a game, but if was the owner I'd go and buy a pack of post tbh
 
Must be very annoying. Perhaps you need to speak to her and see what she will come up with. We bang a few posts in to help keep the fencing nice and tight. As far as the sweet itch goes I used to go and buy Benzyl Benzoate from the chemist and rub that in to my old cobs skin. It stopped the itching and kept bugs away.
 
best get a better energizer and make sure it is not shorting out anywhere. but you (read her the other owner) has an obligation to fence in her stock so i would suggest that you suggest that she provides suitable fencing to keep her stock in her part of the field else she will be responsible for damages. who is the land owner? he also has an obligation especially if he is doing this for financial gain. good luck but nice communication is the way to go as surely you both have the interests of your own horses to look out for?
 
Had a really rubbish day today. Went to my ponies this morning and the women who owns the mare and foal started shouting at me cos i moved some of my electric fence (which i told her that i was gunna move it last sunday) she didnt even give me the chance to explain why i moved it ( cos her bloody foal kept trashing it and the owner never put it back up). Im starting to feel like its not my field anymore.

So, let me get this straight, she shares with you?

As in, it is your own field or one you rent and she then pays you for grazing?

If either of the above and things aren't working out then give her notice to quit - simple (sort of, it depends what kind of agreement you have with her)

Agree with Enfys totally.

If you rent the field from the farmer and she pays rent to you (to give to the farmer) then tell her to improve her fencing or find somewhere else.
If the farmers rents it to you as just a field and allows you to sub let to her, then the fencing between you is not his responsibility because you have decided to divide the field rather than allow them all in together. The outside boundaries are his responsibility.
If boots's on the other foot and she rents from the farmer and sub-lets to you, then it's her call but either way, I would have thought she would have been more responsible towards the safety of her mare and foal

If it's only the bottom bit by the gate that is the problem could not the fencing just be there to help with the sweetitch and the horses in together so in theory, the fence should not be broken?
