I v. stupidly left my bridle on the back seat of my car for a few days in hot weather and its dried out and gone brittle - whats the best way to bring it back to life?
I have brushed it with neats foot oil?

Any other tips - I feel so stupid!!!

Hyde food, rub it in with a cloth and if that fails use your fingers and keep going back letting it soak in. You will need to saddle soap it off before you use it as the neats foot oil will prevent it soaking in.

It will be a little messy but tends to revitalise it back to life. The other stuff I use I got in America and is called leathernew liquid spray, I wouldn't be without it, we use it on everything including car seats, as it doesn't stain! It also brings the worst dried out stuff back to life.

Iwould probably just undo all buckles and dunk it into a vase of neats foot but dunno it thats right or not good luck x

Thanks everyone, I think I'll give the neatsfoot in a bag idea a go first as the manufacturer recommends neats foot in normal care routine.

I would get some leather conditioner rather than oil.

Glad to hear a sensible answer!

neatsfoot actually rots stitching though, so it's not really a good idea to soak anything in it!

you'd be better of with some sort of conditioner.

In 1985 I received a bridle for christmas, I was 14. I used neatsfoot oil to soften it and stored it a plastic bag until it was soft enough to use.
I still have that bridle, we are currently using it on my 2 year with her breaking bit, before that it was her mother's work bridle. The stitching is intact and it is a soft and supple now as it was in 1985.
