Hi,
I've looked through a few of the older posts but wondered if anybody could help? I'm looking to move to leigh on sea, possibly rayleigh and need to find somewhere for my gelding. He lives out all year 24/7 and am having real trouble finding anywhere that does that at the moment! At the moment i'm on a DIY farm but at the moment i'm working in London so may need a bit of help some days (but happy to help others in return as usually down at 5.30 each morning!). Any contacts, advise, knowledge would be welcomed. Farm/yard that accepts dogs would be great, but appreciate may not ever get it as good as i have now! Thanks in advance.

Hi

I would look on *******.co.uk they have a good list of yards of various types.
Or perhaps search local tack shops or pop an advert up.
Equine Adverts is a good site to use for grazing/stabling etc.
Hope you manage to find somewhere.

Speaking from experience as my daughter's pony was kept out that way - there are few yards that offer daily turnout in winter let alone grass livery. My recommendation to you would be to write a polite letter and take it in person to the smaller private yards just by driving past asking about grass livery.

Good Luck

I second what YasandCrystal said about just going around looking. When I moved here I had a really hard time finding a yard (right near you, I was in Rayleigh at first) as I have an arthritic laminitic who needs to be out. Most yards round here seem to offer summer grazing only (sometimes daytime only) or at best daytime year round in m/f herds with no 'special' grazing which would have been tough for my mare. If you look through my old posts you will find a list of all the yards I visited and what they offered at the time.
In the end I just drove around and stopped wherever there were horses. I am currently at a farm on a private yard in Benfleet. My pony is still out 24/7 on a track even though it's nearly December, I have good hacking, a big stable, my own tack room and the school is pretty much to myself (and hasn't flooded yet :)). Sorry I can't invite you to come and check out my yard because we don't have room for any more horses unless they were just to live in but that is definitely what I would do if I were you - it seems to me that private YOs may run their grazing quite differently to commercial ones. Worth a try anyway.

There are a couple of spaces I think on a yard in basildon it's 24/7 turnout big fields and there are always people up there that will help out, it's just off the five bells round about
