Help Evil Sarcoid!

Ok so thuja or zinc and castor oil cream and zinc tablets. Which first do you think? Oh and how many zinc tablets would she need 14h 17 yr old connemara?
Thanks everyone for so many replies :)
Any more suggestions gratefully recieved including how to protect her fetlock.

Not at ALL strange - but inevitable! Where would a fly choose to bite - a nice bit of healthy coat - or a raw bloody mess?? There is a LOT about sarcoids we don't know - but we know a lot about flies!! There is no doubt in MY mind that some horses are more susceptible to sarcoids than others - but I'd bet if there'd been a horse with a wound close to your horse, he would almost certainly have ended up with a sarcoid in the area close to or ON the wound site!

I've seen sarcoids spread - and I now treat ANY sarcoid immediately it appears - and institute fly control measures around the horse in question!

That's very true. My mare with sarcoids was hit by a car and had a huge open wound in her chest - it healed very well, but a couple of sarcoids popped along the scar as it was healing.

I was giving a 16.3hh ISH 3 tablets a day so perhaps 1.5 tablets for a 14hh....

I only used the tablets because the article I read said about treating from the inside as well as the outside. I did try and find the original article out for you but I could not find it. It was definitely in Central Horse news probably about a couple of years ago.... Perhaps you could ask them for a back issue???

Sorry if im being thick so 1 1/2 tablets that are meant for humans you would get from chemist?
And smother sarcoid with zinc and castor oil cream.
I had an idea about covering it i could use an adapted fly mask so there are velcro fastenings above and below the fetlock and then the mask material would be stiff enough to make a ball type shape around the fetlock but not needing to touch the skin can you picture it and what do you all think:)
