Hi just wondering if anyone and tell me how I go about finding out if the newest member of the mad house has a genuine pedigree.

She's apparently registered with the Irish Kennel Club. I have the paper in front of me but to be honest it looks like it was printed off the computer! :(

Advice anyone??xx

Right, I have just grabbed both reg cert and pedigree cert.
Both on light green paper with dark green border on reg, blue border on pedigree, FCI and IKC coat of arms, silver watermark (top right on reg, bottom left on pedigree).
Reg is 'landscape', pedigree is 'portrait',
You may have a home-made pedigree, which doesn't guarantee much, TBH.

paper is flimsy and silver shiney thing in corner looks stuck on.

Breeder and owner is based in Ireland..... Dog was bought in Fife. There is worming jab stickers on her chart but no vet signature or further information? I dont know something just seems odd??

I have that strange feeling....

the Irish KC certificates are extremely colourful, much prettier than the UK KC but the paper is good quality. Phone the Irish KC and ask them, they are really really helpful people.

This is their number +353 (1) 4533300 as soon as you phone them you will have the answer to your questions.

Good luck
Alma

Yep, that's the right positioning for the reg certificate.
My pedigree is also signed in pencil **sigh**
Vet didn't sign for my pup's first jabs so I either have to start all over again or send it to the breeder to get him, to get the vet, to sign it, it can happen!

Pupy vacinations can be bought over the counter here in Ireland and do not need to be administered by a vet. That is propably why it is not signed. Most owners do this themselves.

It is difficult to judge without actually seeing the paperwork. But why would a dog breeder based in Fife be registering puppies with the Irish Kennel Club?

Contacting the Irish KC with details of the dam and sire (IKC) they should be able to assist but ask who registered the litter to ensure it was the person you purchased the puppy from.

The vaccine if given in Ireland or by someone here (illegal to administer vaccine to a puppy/dog in the UK if not under the supervisioin of the vet), maynot be suitable for use here. No signature of vet or practice should be treated with caution. The VMD maybe interested.

My guess is that the breeder maynot have bred the litter (did you see the parents at least the mother with the litter before purchase) and instead is acting as dealer and has bought in the litter of puppies to resell. If you would like to pm with the seller details such as tel number advertised I can make enquiries.

Hi everyone, quick update.

Pup IS pedigree and the mother did die as a result of sepicimia(sp) as the people told me, they rang the kennel club looking for a foster parent at the time. She had a 9th pup which had died inside her and the breeder didn't realise :( Paper work seems to be tattyfrom moving probably but with a sob story like that (and the fact that I usually get ripped off left, right and centre I'm not the most trusting person!) I was always going to be very causious handing over large amounts of money!

Now I can let my little girl meet the latest ball off fluff to join our mad house! :D

Thanks to all for your info last night xx
