I am currently using simple systems feed and it is working out very expensive (£60per month).
My horse is overweight and is a good dooer, he is being brought back into work after an injury.

He is currently being fed SS Metaslim however I have found another feed that looks very similar - Allen and Page Slim and healthy.
Metaslim is £28 for a 10kg bag whereas slim and health is £10 for 20kg so would be saving me loads.

Metaslim contains: Ingredients: forage leaf, full fat oilseed , stabilised dried yeast, spice, seaweed meal, herbal mint, magnesium sulphate.

and Allen and page- Vitamin A, Vitamin D3, Vitamin E, Copper, Selenium, Vitamin K, Folic Acid, Nicotinic Acid, Pantothenic Acid, Vitamins B1, B2, B6, B12, Biotin, Iodine, Cobalt, Iron, Manganese, Zinc, Calcium and Magnesium.

Can anyone help me which would be the best to feed? I have phoned allen and page who cannot compare the two as its not their brand of feed.
Feed to me is like a minefield :(

If your horse is overweight and you are looking to keep costs down, do you really need to feed anything in addition to grass at all? If you are worried about vit/min intake then you could use a vit/min supplement in a handful of chaff.

Have to agree with TGM. My two fatties have a couple of handfuls of Hifi lite, a couple of handfuls of Hilight high fibre cubes and some brewer's yeast and calmag. This costs me a fraction of what you're spending.

HI
just an idea I drastically had to cut my feed bill in half and reduce feeding to fatties. After a lot of research I found out that Baileys make a feed which is named as F H Nash (I think) they make some really good feed and the horses dont mind it (they are used to Baileys stud cubes) The bags sell for around £5 and all I add is a scoop of Biotin. They are looking really well of the Horse and Pony cubes and it is saving me a packet also.
Hope this Helps :-)

Will have a look around. He has been on hifi and happy hoof but I've since been informed that they are both full of molasses. Dengie now do a molasses free hifi and alfa-a so I may give him a little sprinkle of that.
Thanks for the advice
