:confused:I am having trouble working out the cost in feeding. I've been on the dodson and horrell website and put in my 14.2hh's weight (475kg). It says she needs 2.85kg of pasture mix a day (20kg a week) and 9.03kg of forage. She's living out and shut in her field shelter all night, how much hay/grass/feed does she need. I need help quick! Thankyou:confused:

It depends a lot on how much grazing you have, how much work she's doing, her weight etc etc...

We have a 14.2hh out on good grazing in the day, stabled at night. he has ad lib hay over night - about 1/3 - 1/2 a bale, and feed wise he has 'graze on' chaff and a vit and min supplement. So costs are pretty low.

He works 6 days a week mainly hacking some light schooling, odd bit of jumping. Keeps his weight well and has plenty of energy!

Ad lib hay and a handful of minerals with a bit of chaff, maybe some sugar beet [soaked], unless she is expected to do more than five hours per week proper work, that will do fine.
Forget D&H pasture mix.
Only the most cobby type will be as heavy as that, most 14.2 are under 450gk/
Even at 475, 2% is only 9.5kg total feed, and as she is out at grass, you cannot weigh her intake.
To feed 12kg is ridiculous, she would keel over.
