This is on behalf of a friend, mare is a talented ex showjumper who has competed to grade B and is a warmblood by Ramiro B. Good breeding, very scopey jumper and has been with them for a long time. Foal will be to keep.

They are looking for a stallion 16hh+, a good all rounder. Ideally a knapstrupper but other breeds considered. They would prefer to send her to stud for natural cover. As close to Kent as possible although right stallion more important than location.

Thanks :)

What are they looking to breed, a show jumper? Also what do they want to improve on the made?

An all rounder really but the main focus will be jumping!
Mare is fantastic, but quite highly strung so they would prefer a calmer stallion if possible

Just to be devils advocate why is your friend breeding from this mare . Does she know whatever she puts her to she is likely to produce a 'highly strung ' foal The mare will always have a large influence on temperament . Does the mare honestly have enough winnings to justify the risk of producing an unwanted foal.

Yes, friend is well aware of that. Simply don't want to put her to a highly strung stallion too. Mare has lots of winnings, good bloodlines, and is easily enough to handle/ride just a bit spooky and a bit of a madam when in season - I'm not talking a monster here. Just not a novice ride type, fine for my friend as she's very experienced.

Foal is to keep - regardless of how that foal turns out. Friend has just finished backing her 4 year old who she's had since a yearling. She's done a fantastic job with him :) Mare has been in the family for a long time, friend was the one who competed her so if foal does have mares temperament it's not the end of the world!

I know the problems with over breeding/unwanted horses but they have all the right things in place here. And there will be no unwanted foal at the end of it. Its a one off breeding.

Thanks all!

We stand Santo Hit in kent, he is oldenburg licensed and although does not offer natural cover his chilled semen is excellent quality and will places like bell equine in Kent offering fantastic AI packages it is a very straightforward process (obvs if the mare also has good fertility).
He would give something with super type and ridability and a very good level of ability for a smart all rounder.
