hi

I have a wintec cair saddle on my pony shie is only 5 so constantly changing shape, under advice from my instructor we changed her gullet from wide to xwide but i feel ther saddle is pinching slighlty just below her withers, everywhere else looks good, she has rather large shoulders, anyway upon inspection of the saddle i noticed that there is flocking inthe side panels of the saddle, can this be adjusted? as I feel if a little of it was removed the saddle would be much more comfortable for her. i am aware this would only be a temp measure but it would hopefully last until she has another growing spurt,

Pony is a conx 14'2 looking at her she doesn't look wide, just has huge shoulders.

thanks

There is an issue with many horses and Wintec headplates - the inward kink in them can cause pressure at the top of the panel, even when the tree headplate is the "right" width. With most saddles if they are the right width then the pressure should feel even down the front (you can only really check this with the saddle girthed firmly, you can't feel it when you're on board, and an ungirthed saddle doesn't count!). With Wintecs you frequently find that extra pressure at the very top of the panel, either side of the wither. I'm not sure where you mean the extra flock is - really Cair should be shimmed - but if it is lower down, right at the tree points, then it may actually be helping - it should take away the pressure at the top of the panel. If that is where there is extra flocking, and you still have pressure at the top, then I suspect the previous head plate was a better bet and your fitting issue is something else (and yes I am a fitter by trade though I don't fit Wintecs, but I do see them and check them on my rounds).
