Hello,
bit of background - i have wanted to buy my own foal for years and have a friend for life and finally in a position to do so.
Before buying I sussed out a few yards and found no livery yards anywhere near me with youngsters! ALAS i found a livery yard, very knowledgeable and had a lady who had a foal and yearling so i deposited a stable and bought a filly (6 months old)
I bought her and she was delivered two weeks later (due to me being away she stayed with owner for a bit) and the lady has unfortunately had to move liveries due to last minute personal issues.
I am now left with a filly I adore already, very sweet - 13.1 6 month old and no youngsters.
I am scared she is going to get bulled as the youngest is now 3 years of age and with an established mare herd. I am definitely not putting her alone, I have one option she can share with a calf in a field until shes a bit older but never paired horses/calves before so I'm a bit reluctant.
I have heard of introducing her to one or two separate but the older mares are huge and if that goes badly she could be seriously hurt.
Any ideas as i now feel terrible.

I
Where abouts are you?
im sure someone on here can recommend suitable youngstock/stud livery for you
Near Bolton, again though I don’t drive and I will find it hard to go to somewhere far away. I tried the stud the lady suggested above but was told they don’t take on liveries anymore - tried a few more and they don’t have foals. The only one I found was one foal her age but turnout is only 6 months of the year and she needs to be out really not stuck in a stable

If you can’t drive then I suppose the beauty of stud/youngstock livery is it’s usually a package so there won’t be any need to go every day.

Depending on the land in the area you may need to consider barns for a weanling.

You are way out of my area so I can’t help - but worth asking on local horse FB sites and there is also a site called British Breeders. Pop a wanted add out for weanling livery. Worth getting it right at this stage. In 18 months or so then you will be in a better position to look at local yards.

Thank you for your comment - fingers crossed I am going viewing a yard tonight that has two horses under 2 years she can be paired with and join a bigger herd when they are a little older. if all goes well I will be moving her there!
