My sister informed me last night that for some time now her horse has developed bald patches on her flanks and hip area. They are not sore and the skin has not broken but the hair has gone and left it bald.
I have asked her to check the usual things such as lice etc and also recommended that she has a look at the inside of her rug and give it a really good sweep off of hair and dust...I am thinking that because she has not cleaned her rug (she only has one) for 2 winters and apparently it is covered in hair...that it might be irritating her????
She has not been treating the area with anything as the skin is not broken, however I have recommend she puts something on it to promote the hair to grow back (and a vet visit could be in order).
Any advice on this and what she can put on it? Unfortunately she can not afford expensive lotions and potions so I have recommended something Aloe Vera based...or can anyone remind me of that skin cream that you all seem to use that you can get at the chemists?
Thanks
