Hi,

I don't know if anyone can help me but I have a 2yo colt that I need gelding asap but it needs to either be done at the vets own surgery or I need to find a field I can borrow for a week or two in the Taunton area so I can have it done.

Does anyone know any good vets in the Taunton/Somerset area that offer inhouse surgery and what are the prices like? Or can they help with a field??

Thank you so much in advance!

I've currently got him turned out in Devon but due to the flies, the owner isn't happy for him to be gelded there, hence getting it done in the vets.

Get him cut in late september

,the flies have died off by then, and the weather hasnt changed for the worst, had my boy done then on vets reccomendations...he said early to late summer

,this time of yr is probably the worst time to do it

I know, but I can't keep him in Devon for much longer and I can't find anywhere near me to keep him so I have a lovely lady who would like to loan him, however we need to get him gelded before I can move him to her yard in Taunton and unfortunately, the field she was going to borrow for a few weeks and put him in with her gelding whilst we sorted the vet stuff has been taken

So now I'm stuck because we both want the loan to happen, but can't whilst he's still a colt :S

Agree with JM - i have had colts cut in summer with no probs what so ever.

I think it's because she had a bad experience with it once and because I can't get down there everyday to give him the aftercare myself, she'd have to keep an eye on him and she has lots of horses turned out there already. Hence why I either want to move him to Taunton as this is where my loan lady is or get him done at the vets so he can go to her afterwards.

Are you my Vet? That is EXACTLY what he said, minus a couple of cuss words.

I had a colt done at the end of June and had a 4 year old done this morning.
