After reading Showjumper2003's post last night, have decided I want to get that green tweed jacket!

So - can I have some help from M&M (in hand and ridden) showing people please?

Is it ok to wear black hat with it? Can I still carry black cane and wear black gloves, or should cane and gloves be brown? If cane & gloves should be brown, will they be ok with black hat?

What would be the best colour shirt and tie to wear with green jacket?

I will only be doing local level showing.

Any advice appreciated THANKYOU!

Hi there. I have a coloured cob so showing gear is pretty much the same as M&M. Cane & gloves should be brown. I'm assuming you're female so strictly speaking your hat should be navy (preferably an old beagler that's nicely worn in

I wish I had one!) but for local black will be fine.
I have a green tweed jacket (having a blank on the make at the mo!) with dark green velvet collar and wear a dark green tie with navy flecks in to tie my hat & jacket together. Bought the tie from Primark and it's really good quality. I have a pale yellow shirt and it go nicely. I got a man's shirt from Peacocks but FMM advised me to buy a white shirt and wash it with new yellow duster if I couldn't find one pale enough!

Never black cane or gloves no matter what colour your jacket and hat are. Always brown (or mustard etc).

Not many femals will be wearing black hats - they are usually worn by men - generally blue or brown for M&Ms and some green ones occasionally. However, at local level you will be fine in a black hat.

Cream/corn shirt with perhaps a red tie - depends on the other colours in the tweed. If you go to some of the photographers websites you can see lots of combinations.

Have fun!

Love beaglers - not worth buying one for the occasional in-hand class though, as I couldn't wear it for the ridden classes anyway could I?

Thanks for the advice everyone - I was thinking of cream/pale yellow for the shirt - good tip about the white shirt and duster!

Thanks

At TE said, strap hats for M&Ms, and at most local shows you would be required to wear a strap hat, no matter what class you are entering. THe same goes for quite a few county shows this year - strap hats instead of beaglers for hunters and cobs etc as well.

I made the mistake of wearing a black hat....its much nicer to wear blue and to have brown tack, gloves and cane, even if you are at local level, start as you mean to go on

I have a tweed jacket, with green in it and have a yellow stripped shirt, blue shirt and now have a green stipped shirt and I get my ties from the charity shops, sooooo much cheeper and you can play around with them. I have a good collection now and mix and match
