Hello all!

I was wondering what kind of insurance I would need if I were to be a freelance groom? I volunteer at my local stud farm now and have no insurance whatsoever (daft, I know, but I'm leaving after Christmas). This will be the first time I get insurance, I am 17 years old and I do ride as part of my job. Also, if you could tell me what insurance companies you're with? I've had a look at PetPlan and BHS, but have no idea what kind of insurance I'll need!

Thank you so much!! :)

The British Grooms Association gets you a good deal on personal accident insurance when you become a member. I also insure for third party and care custody and control (CCC is needed if you are planning on clipping I believe) with SEIB.

You need third party cover ( for gain or reward, so BHS/ BS/ PC membership type cover doesn't cut it), and you must also change your car policy to business use, most are just leisure and commuting.
Personal accident and CCC as described above are optional but very sensible.
