Hi,

Can anyone advise?
i noticed this potential field injury / abscess issue the past few days.

She lives out 24/7 and it’s been rainy. But I’ve been washing it, cleaning, drying with a towel and spraying with silver spray and or putting some silver cream on to dry it out before turning her back out each day.

No gunk coming out but it’s worrying me.
Has anyone else experienced anything else like this and have advice?

I’d really appreciate it.
Thanks so much

Tbh I don’t have huge experience with hoof issues. She’s always been so sound. (Touches wood!)

You need a vet or farrier for that. It looks like some serious white line disease that's rotted her heel. It will probably need paring out hard to get back to something free of the rot.

Morning!

Farrier came out this morning. He said the same thing. Nothing to worry about, extra piece of the frog that has come away due to the amount of rain and moisture in the field at the moment. He trimmed it back and I’ll get my usual barefoot trimmer back next week for her regular trim.

Here are some pics.

Thanks so much for your help. I’m so grateful for this forum.
