Help! Horse is seriously spooky and parelli seems to be making her worse?

Oh boy what a thread!!!!!
Im sersiouly hopeing the op is joking around. If she's a bit dim ( sorry no offence op) than that horse is in for one hell off a shock tomoz. It will be so tramatised that she will never mess around again.
Start with being stabled all night with draw reins,
a section off being smacked round the face,
the owner chasing the mare around while wearing cow boy hat, chaps and eeeerrrr don't forget the bra,
and the afternoon sesion off waving a stick in her face
BUT all else fails you still have the bullet option or if you really want to have fun BREED a cute foal to start all over again.

I would also agree with turning her away for six months and re starting her! Remember, you've only had her 3 weeks, she's bound to be unsettled.

It does sound like spooky to the extreme, I've had insecure horses (a rescue case and one that had never been out of the field) but neither were as bad as this. I would lunge or ride her in the arena for 20 mins before riding out, and then go out for as long a hack as possible, accompanied by a quiet, bombproof horse, every day. Also don't give her any hard feed.

Do you know any bold riders who could take her hunting? Perhaps not the wisest idea but it does seem to give them confidence...

the OP has just PMed me to say shes upset that people dont think its real.

She will update us on the horses progress later in the week

But we will be expecting pictures of her wearing her cowboy hat, chaps (and nothing else) weilding an orange/purple stick and riding the horse past a tree - perhaps she could do a daily pictorial blog?

I still think my suggestion of moving to an area where there are no trees is the best! :p

Why give her a holiday! No, this is nothing that a blindfold and a few sharp yanks with the leadrope (around the head like Linda works) won't sort out.

Gave in, had to join in, personally if she was mine I would take reins off completely and only use the drwa reins, get her head nice and between her knees so she cant see anything then buck strap on too so that she cant buck if she sees a twig, if this doesnt work then I highly recommend tying alternate legs together so that she stands on two legs and then leaving her with the draw rein really tight for several hours and then get her to hop over some twigs on the ground and maybe stand her under a tree.

Once she has done this for a few months, breed from her with YO stallion as you will def get the best horse who will be 2012 prospect for sure, even at 14 months old.

Surely this thread is a joke!!!!

Although if it isnt op i would seriously suggest you move away from the stables you are currently at, they either havnt got a clue or are having a laught at your expense!!!! What kind of insrtucter would tell somebody to put on a american accent, if you are serious you can see why people would think your joking.
If i were you i would take her somewhere where they can do some reschooling for you and teach you at the same time. Forget all the parelli crap and get a proper instuctor and get some decent lessons in.

By the sounds of it she's nt hitting it enough! You really gotta treat your horse like a punching bag its the only way! Also have you got sharp round spurs on, they are a must and when you ride you can stab her aswell

:p:)

I think the problem is that nobody except PP and LP have actually got the level 90,896 required to be able to understand that method. Best leave it to the experts, or pay just £1,500,099 to receive the DVD and certificate for the required level. This will mean you can understand and use the above method.

For the rest of us, I suggest you take off the horse's bridle and saddle (throw them away, you won't ever need them again) and spend some quality time convincing your horse that you are also a horse. See instructional video here

Naturally I have all of Tex Roundups DVD's and I bought his Doozie Headcoller and the naturally coloured saddle cloths and I even bought a fake Moustache and a Cowboy hat so my horse would know I meant business. He too is naturally branded from his parents, so maybe my horse and Tex Roundups horse have the same parentage. OP I recommend you stop doing Parelli with your mare and start doing Tex Roundup.

Have had my horse for 3 weeks now, i got her from the sales which i know wasnt the best idea but i just couldnt resist her :( Shes rideable and seems to go quite nicely but does have a habit of bucking.

She is so spooky at everythiing though and trees seem to be her personal nightmare. Everytime she goes near one she just freezes and then tries to rear up. Even a twig on the ground sets her off. My YO recommended doing parelli with her which from watching videos on youtube seems to be seem just some cowboy running around with a big whip making them stand on boxes and something with big excercise balls? But being open minded i gave it a go and at first it seemed to work but now shes just getting worse :( Whenever i go near her with the stick she goes mental and she wont let me near her now :( My YO has got a stallion that she said i can breed from so i was thinking of this as a back up plan if needs be? My other friend suggested using drawreins on her to try and keep her head down so she she`ll be focusing more on that rather than the trees etc and someone else suggested using blinkers? Any help appricated as i`m at the end of my tether and regretting buying her now :(

I'm sorry but your YO sounds like a complete numpty!!!!

OP, if you're serious, then I'd agree with those who've suggested turning her away for a while to let her settle ... before you do that, move to another yard that isn't run by a prat. Once she's had some time off, start her from the beginning, NO PARELLI.

Oh come on, of course it's a wind-up!

The lack of knowledge on this forum astounds me.
Given the horses deep fear of trees it should be obvious that the OP has confused the Parelli DVD with Lord of the Rings DVD. Easy to do as both filed under fiction. Poor horse now believes all trees are Ents who are likely to charge her at any moment.

And while I'm at it - Flamehead, if you are going to advise someone on using rollkur then please get it right. Chin on girth strap is long and deep, chin touching throat area is rollkur or to be precise, hyperflexion. Tut Tut Tut.

OP - I suggest you get a copy of In the Night Garden and play this to your horse. In about 28 years she will understand that woods are a nice calm place where nothing bad happens. Remember, you cant rush these things.

Take her to a wood carving class, get her to make a nice fruit bowl. That should help.

I would deffo breed from her, having two problems instead of one will be much more fun. That way she will have company.
Your YO is SO clever to think of that.

What are you Kidding?? that programme suggests that the Forest is full of Massive blow up Smily faces that jump about going "HAAAA HOOOO" i.e basically big scary ghosts and if you escape them, you get swarmed by the little titchy things that multiply faster the rabbits and hide in your underwear, and if you escape them, you get your face washed by some dodgy looking marshamallow and dried by a blue man with a big red rug, who stuffs you in a car that actually has a mind of its own, :p,
