Hi,

I have a second interview next week for a job in Dorset - if I get it and accept it it will mean re-locating to North Dorset and taking my horse with me.

I don't know the area at all, so need info about livery yards and whether there is much going on in terms of competitions etc - mostly BSJA and BE and maybe BD?

Would really appreciate some advice before I make a decision.

Many thanks

im not really sure about livery yards as i keep mine privatly but there is kingston maurward collage and moreton EC in dorchester that do alot of BD an then moreton do a B.E aswell. (moreton also has a livery yard which looks very nice!) kingston maurward aslo does BSJA but not that much but crofton manor and quob are fairly close and they do alot of BSJA. there are also a fair few B.Es in or around dorest moreton, somerly, bovington, bricky are all in dorset an then ebbesborne, tweseldown, bath and west, mattingley and brockenhurst arnt far (thats all i can think of of the top of my head! lol)

hope this helps!!

Thanks that's really helpful.

Do you have any idea where I might find out about livery - names of any local tack shps etc?

Thanks again

um theres avily tack shop (very good and have a notice board with sll sorts on it.) in crow but they dont have a wbsite i dont think www.moretondorset.co.uk is 4 obv moreton EC there is eqqus in three cross but i thats closer 2 south/central dorset and i wouldnt really recomend them. also try www.nfed.co.uk its a website for the south west an it has all sorts of classifieds on it that are really local and i think that they have a livery yard section in it aswell.

hope it helps!!

good luck 4 ur interview!

If you are north Dorset in the summer there is Dorset Showground which does fab BSJA all summer, and West Wilts - which does everything,

Whereabouts might you end up living?

The job is in a small village between Shaftesbury and Sherborne - and about 5 miles from Gillingham, so I guess I would be living soemwhere around there.

It's good to hear that there are things going on as I was worried it might be a bit dead comp wise.

That will be very close to Dorset Showground. About an hour from Moreton and an hour or just less to Kingston Maurward.

I moved down here at beginning of May and have found its fab. so many horsey people and tons going on so don't panic.

Dorset is totally fab - you'll love it!!!

Hi,
There are two great local websites you should look at for people in New Forest, Dorset and Hampshire. the first is www.nfed.co.uk and the second is www.hampshire-rider.com
I think they'll both show what a great place we live in.
Good luck with the job interview.
