just been asked to look after a horse and pony for someone fri-sun next weekend but not sure what to charge! i normally look after friends ponies for them, but as they are friends i just get a bottle of wine/chocolates so im a bit stuck with this one!
its about 10 mins away and my duties include:
bring in pony, groom and tie up (apparently tied up all day but i will not be doing this he will be going in his stable)
poo pick his field
check water
feed horse
change rugs
turn out
muck out
bring in lunch time
poo pick his field (diff to pony)
then depending what time he comes in come back at tea time to feed/skip out horse
put pony out
muck out pony

these two bring me to a grand total of 7 horses and ponies in various places i am looking after, not including my own! i could go into business!!

what are your thoughts?!

I am on part livery at my yard and if I am away and want them to make up feeds, muck out and pick out feet and put hay in it is £5 a day in the week and £7 a day at weekends - any help?

I have a horse sitter when I am away and she charges me £10 a day to do mine (2 ponies and 1 miniature). That is for 2 visits a day to feed, muck out and bring in and out - I dont expect her to poo pick or anything. I try and leave as many haynets and feeds made up ready as I can just to save her time. I think that is very reasonable, its only a bit more than it costs me to put my (small) dog in kennels.

thats a great help thanks, thinking i will prob charge about the same, although i might end up having to go three times a day so maybe an extra £5 to cover petrol costs?
