Hey guys,

I am interested in an advert I have seen but I am not sure how to interpret it.

The mare for sale has done RDA, pony club, loves jumping but is very forward going off the lead rein.

Any thoughts?

Sounds like a typical / LR / second pony. We had one on loan for a while. She was a lovely pony with a nice jump but her default approach to a wobbly beginner (a few tried her when it was time for her to go to a new loan home) was go rather than stop. She was great on the lead rein and also a good pony for a competent, balanced little rider (she would slow down & stop if they sat up and asked her to) but not a great match for a just off the lead rein beginner.

I'd guess it means its a great lead rein pony, but once off lr is more of a second pony rather than a first ridden.

^^ just whats been said above!

I bought one that sounded just like this. 11.2hh lead rein pony who had never been off the lead rein with that owner. We were looking for an 11.2hh 2nd pony for my then 6yr old daughter & apparently they didn't exist! So we bit the bullet & tried this lead rein pony instead. She was strong, fast infact a little crazy off the lead but the daughter loved her & she jumped anything for fun! At a show once the daughter shouted me over "mummy I think Frizbee is bucking" I turned round & she was stood on her back legs with the daughter clinging round her neck with a grin on her face! So she learned to sit to a rearer too :)
