discussions work in New lounge.
They seem very strange to me...
In case of doubt the offical definition for a discussion is...
1. The action or process of talking about something, typically in order to reach a decision or to exchange ideas: "the specific content of the legislation was under discussion".
2. A conversation or debate about a certain topic.
In new lounge is the definition seems to be...
Step 1)OP posts their opinion on a topic and asks for others to start a discussion (fair enough you say, sounds good so far!).
Step 2) Some poster agree with OP (end of discussion). Others however may disagree, which starts a debate. There are two types of posters here- those who disagree for the sake of it and like to argue, though they don't know why.
And then those who disagree, giving a valid reason why their opinion differs.
Step 3) NL speacial is to 'take' sides. OP found somone who disagrees with their opinion, no longer wants a discussion so may start getting petty, likewise the other posters will too. Both sides fail to understand that they BOTH are right/wrong, and will never agree, as basically they want everyone to agree with them and not discuss why they don't! END OF DISCUSSION
This handy 3 step model can be applied to any NL thread, espeically those involving
-barefoot/ shoes
-parelli
-National Horsemanship
-Horse racing
-Fat or thin ponies
-Fat or thin riders
Am I missing anything??
