HELP - I haven't a clue

I meant as in I don't have a clue why my horse is doing this...all that I have said is that I am doing nothing out the ordinary...i.e him standing in the trailer. I was just trying to make very clear that he is ok about standing in a trailer.

I don't mean to be moody its just frustrating when nothing has changed with how he is travelled, dealt with etc etc.

cax89 - so far only when we are stationary/virtually stationary. I am worried that it will start at traffic lights next.

Flying in and out, so please forgive if this has already been suggested.

You have had the trailer for a few years now.

Has it had a new floor in that time?

If no, you might need to look into it.

If yes, were different materials used/new ones added?

Good luck with it all. Hope you both stay safe.

OK, so ruling out problems (that you can define) with horse's health and the trailer is definitely safe. Has he had a change in field companion/stable neighbours lately? Sometimes when they form a very strong and over the top pair bond with a companion their behaviour can become seemingly irrational when they're separated.
For example, every time that the trailer stops he may just be thinking that it is time to get out and be back with his companion. Just stabbing in the dark beyond all of the other sensible ideas that others have put forward.

Sounds like you got a few good ideas i.e check trailer over and vet coming out to check horse over, he obviously not happy about something.

I'm guessing that he only does it when the trailer stops/stopping as he is having to keep all four feet on the floor when actually travelling to keep his balance?

Fingers crossed you get to the bottom of it.

Hi goldanas49 and everyone else that has offered advice...

I had the vet out on Friday and she could find nothing - eyes, back, flexion tests, trot up circles etc etc. I also said about how well and keen he is and she said there is no way he can be in pain as he woudn't be going like that. Which is what I thought.

The only food for thought I now have is his brushing boots...I am hunting him in a pair that I don't normally hunt him in...and I have mainly used these since he came back into work and he does do a little bit of a John Cleese walk in them for a couple of steps when they go on which he didn't used to do. But they are not slipping, rubbing and he is jumping like a stag

She wants me to travel with no boots - but I am too chicken.

I am going to use his 'normal' boots for a while and and see what happens...she if the funny steps stop

He is a bit funny with his legs - hates me scrubbing mud off and is a poof to clip them out.

Trailer is still having a service though!

Yard owner thinks he needs a shrink!

Probably nowt to do with it but maybe his feed is adding to his thuggery. I only say this because in the OP you say he's on his toes all the time and showing off to other horses when you hack out or lunge.

Do let us know how you go on with the different boots. It really can be frustrating having to go through the long process of elimination, whenever there is something wrong.
