I'm thinking of put our IDxCob mare in foal next year to a full ID stallion but cant seem to find any I like which dont have King of Diamond blood lines.
I dont know her official pedigree but we think we've worked out the ID bloodlines and if we're correct then her great grandsire is King of Diamonds, and obviously I dont want something that is closely inbred. She's around 15.1/2hh and has bred before I got her, last one in 2009.
Please help me to find a suitable stallion

I'd ring the IDHS (GB) & ask them if they can help you, KoD was very prolific but there are ones out there without his breeding. The stallion list is here http://www.idhsgb.com/web/staticpages/index.php/stallions

A quick look for a smaller stallion that isn't in the south, Wales or Scotland & has no KoD according to allbreed showed me:

Bealalgh Blue

I stopped looking after 3, & my geography is useless so I'm not sure if any of them are closeto you, but it does show they're out there.

Have a look at Maurice Minor; he stands near Stafford; I've had three lovely youngsters by him.

Understatement - this years is stunning.

I have a lovely Archie filly out of a trad cob mare, lots of substance, nice shape and super outlook, but Archie does have KOD 4 lines back and I don't know if that is classed as closely inbred or not.

My cob is just 15hh and the filly at 14 months is 14hh and seems to be growing slowly. I am getting worried she won't be big enough for me unless I drop 5 stone ! Archie is 16.3 and I had hoped for a big 16hh all rounder. Do I need to worry Maesfen ?

Lol, they always are slow to grow and mature although can't say that about this one; he's already the size of yearling that came back this spring whereas she's grown a hand since the spring so don't give up hope yet.

They are out there, if I remember correctly, without having to check my list (cos I am ready for bed):

Attwood Black Laughton
Hillviewfarm Milligan
Bridgeford Ferryman

to name some that haven't already been mentioned.

We were looking for an outcross stallion for our own RID mare and chose to travel her from Cumbria down to south Wales to see Bridgeford Ferryman.

The IDHS GB website has a forum where there are breeders and enthusiasts who will gladly offer you their knowledge on bloodlines.

14hh at 14 months is a fair height - and if they grow UP too quickly, they tend not to have the depth, breadth and hindquarter of those who grow more slowly. My 2 year old fillies were all measured this week (gradings) and the biggest was 15.3 (out of a 17hh mare) and if she follows in her full sister's shoes she'll be 17hh but a MW. One - out of a 16hh mare built like a brick outhouse, by a 17hh stallion built the same - was only 15.1 and will probably end up around 16hh - but a FAR better weight-carrier that the 17hh filly!

Thanks Janet,
She does have plenty of depth, I don't want her to be too tall, I am getting old and stiff ! Please remember she is coming visiting, hope you like her.

Wow! She is LOVELY (and very Archie-like). But she also reminds me greatly of my Dolly - the only brood mare I have who we have NO breeding for. She came from Ireland and I guessed she was at least 50% ID but wasn't sure of the rest. I think I am now!

And don't worry about her height - she's very bum high in that pic so she'll keep growing for a while!

I look forward to seeing her in a couple of years!

Thank you, I hoped you might like her. Promise not to laugh, but here is her mum. Unknown breeding, bit of Shire maybe ? I bought her in a pitiful state and patched her up. Golden temperament but still a little nervous at times.
