About 8 weeks ago one of my horse's (5yo) went to the vets for a lameness exam. She was taking a short stride with the offside hind. She was nerve blocked and X-ray'd. They said they couldn't find much wrong with her and the X-rays were clean and they diagnosed a high soft tissue injury (but didnt or couldnt specify which tissue) and told to field rest for 1 month. She has been rested for 2 months and I rode her for the first time yesterday. She seemed fine on a long rein but when on the bridle in walk she was short on same back hind every 1 in 10 steps.. Should I ask the vets to do further lameness tests, box rest her or shall i turn her away for the winter??

We had this and it was very high suspensory ligament damage. Nothing showed on xrays but it did on scans. Its worth getting scans as well to rule it out as my vet said its quite a common injury but rarely fully diagnosed. On the other hand unless you want to go down our road of shockwave treatment and stem cells- then its worth turning away for a few months- see what your vet thinks-good luck!

Sounds like an SI injury or rotated pelvis to me. That is the usual culprit for short stepping with a high tissue injury. I would get a physio or similar out and they will identify the problem and treat as apropriate with massage, manipulation and give you some exercises to do with the horse.
