Hi there,

my two are both out 24/7 now. one is in good medium work and is getting fed and the other isnt doing quite as much so isnt getting fed. due to no rain our grass is looking pretty rubbis however they are both rather good doers (george in particular seem to live on fresh air!)

as he isnt being fed anything i thought about getting a field mineral block for them. ive used a horselyx before but george had it all gone within a day!

so im looking for a solid block which isnt as palatable that it'll go within a day or two or cause fights. ive seen the dengie ones but at 15 quid a pop the bit on it that says 'should last a horse a week' puts me off!

ive heard good things about the rockies ones? any others to think about?

Rockies - big block with hole in the middle so you can tie to a fence or gate. They are about £8 and last for AGES; they're rock hard (pardon the pun) and horses can't chew them, they can only lick them. I buy the red one for my mob and they love it.

Ditto rockies. they do a chelated mineral block which is a cream coloured square block with a hole through it.

Badminton feeds do a mineral bucket for fatties, it worked really well for my greedy highland. It lasted him and his Section A friend over a month, I haven't used it very recently but I think it was about £11.
