*HELP* Indestructable Over Reach Boots?

:( The pony needs to be turned out in 4 over reach boots (fronts to reduce chance of him pulling a shoe, backs coz he manages to slit his coronet bands LOL?)

Anyways, he's out the majority of the year so they're in use 24/7 pretty much.

I've tried....

Legacy Fabric Over reach boots ...Fell to pieces (freyed etc)
TBK Fabric over reach boots ...Fell to pieces
Masta fabric/neoprene over reach boots ...Bits came off the first time he wore them!
Bridleway Over reach boots with fur round the top ...Velcro fell off
Roma Normal Rubber Over reach boots with velcro ...Velcro fell off & they rubbed

All of the above were double lock....



Is there any that any of you know which are really good for turning out and that are sturdy and last ages but don't rub!! Would preferably like to spend under £20 per set if he's gunna go through them at the rate he is atm! LOL

Find some that fit your horse well and stick to them - and just accept they won't last forever! I had to keep my horse in them 24/7 to protect his shoes and just had to stock-up every so often. I used Shires double-lock ones, with a bit of udder cream if they looked as tho they were starting to rub. Every so often he'd take a 'bite' out of one, and sometimes he'd rip one right through, kept his shoes on though!
 
I put my TB out in some cheap rubber bell boots, but with the fur around the top to stop rubbing. They last a few months before the velcro gives up and comes off, but they aren't expensive, so I don't mind buying more.
 
Hattie goes through her over reach boots like I go through chocolate. Unfortunately, the only brand she cannot destroy for the life of her are Davis brand ones which they don't sell over here. You can find them on the US Ebay though but I get mine when I go back to Canada every year (do a search for Davis bell boots). They are expensive (about $25- $30) but when I think about how much I've spent on normal rubber ones over here, I've probably paid more than the Davis ones!!

I bought a pale pink pair last summer and they are still going strong and the velcro is still grippy, this summer I bought a hot pink pair.

Hattie has hers on 24/7 when she's on turnout and I use them for schooling as well. I've never had rubs with them as the PVC is soft and smooth. The sizes run the same as normal over reach boots (Hattie take medium in everything) and they come in nifty colors like see-thru, sparkles and plain colors too.

It's so annoying as they don't sell them here as Robinson's does the Davis poultice boots but not the over reach boots!!!
 
I'd buy normal rubber ones in job lots/bulk to save money. They are cheap and doo the job. To stop the rubbing use vasiline/udder cream.

Ohhhh really? loool when I had to put some on for a PC assessment one time, it took me like 20 minutes to get it over the hoof... :S :S

Are these one especially easy then? xxxxxxxxxxx
 
I think so.

To put on turn them inside out, hook onto the toe and pull towards the heel, then flip them over to get them the right way up.

To pull off just pull off the heel.
 
i use the pull on over reach boots, cheap and cheerful. he wears them 24/7 as he wears bar shoes. i went through loads of velco over reach boots as within a week the velco just rips off. i have to buy XL so i can get them round his shoe. they are a pain to get on round bar shoes but with some brute force they go on. i just get my farrier to put them on when hes finished and then they dont come off again till hes next shod.

Sorry, I'll be the one who says the Woofwear Kevlar ones are rubbish, £30 quid and they didn't last a week, 4 days actually. I got my money back...

Other ones I've tried are Mark Todd fabric covered neoprene ones, they've been quite good, and we have gone back to cheap and cheerful Shires ones. Our pony wears them whilst being ridden and also whilst out in the field, I'm fed up with him pulling shoes off because he's taught himself how to...
 
My TB wears over reached all the time when out.

I was using Sportbac ones but this time got Premier Equine and was very pleased with them.

I use neoprene ones as the rubber ones rub him and ones without the 'no turn' bobbles as these rub the bits above his heels.
 
I used petal overreach boots, not the Westropp ones as I found they were too short but similar makes (just cheapo's) nd they were brilliant, the individual "petal" made them so much stronger

Have to agree, my mare pulled the velcro off with her teeth within a week. I watched her do it whilst she was lying down in the field....

The rubber ones with no velcro are the most indestructable... but they do rub :( Decathlon do some which last well and aren't expensive :)
 
I am not impressed with the Woofwear boots either. The stitching comes undone really easily as they spin round, so when horse over reaches, it pulls the velcro off. I am on my second pair, only because I can't find any others that fit Harveys massive soup plate feet.
The stitching came undone on my second pair after only one week. The previous pair only 6 weeks. Pretty bad going as they cost £35!
 
Westropp petal boots are pretty good just replace a petal if one comes/broken off and havnt rubbed, so far pretty indestructable as you can buy bits for them cheaply
