I've had my 7 yr old TB X gelding for 6 months now, and I'm having some issues. He has become resistant, slow and more nappy than usual.
I have had his back and teeth done and the saddle fitter is coming in a week's time. It has got to the stage where if i ask him to move a bit quicker off my leg or ask him to trot or canter he will buck with his near hind leg, it seems to be the transition he is unhappy with. He is not happy at all and has become considerably worse since his back was done. He has always been stressy and grumpy and I just don't know what is wrong with him.
Could me being unbalanced cause this?
Is it still his back or maybe gastric ulcers?
Is he just a lazy resistant sod? ( my gut feeling says it's not this).
Just to say he is the same hacking or schooling and we do have napping issues out hacking even with company. I am going to get the back lady out again and have someone else ride him to see if it's me, this bit worries me the most!
I'm feeling really down and completely useless, so any suggestions or experiences please

I would certainly get everything on your list checked out, if nothing other than to rule them out. Your comments remind me of a case in the Mary Wanless Masterclass book of a more mature lady rider with her Welsh cob where she did far more work than the horse did! By improving her riding, the horse changed its way of going completely.
