Personally I would have got the vet pretty quickly when he wouldnt get up (if this is unusual for him). I certainly would have called him once I saw the horse could barely walk and wouldnt have made him walk to a stable....... It could be laminitis which makes it extremely painful for horses to walk.
He really shouldn't have been allowed on such lush grass anyway! Sorry but this is a real bug-bear of mine. NO horse should be on proper "lush" grazing because ANY horse can get laminitis. Having had 2 ponies with the condition (one came to me like this, the others was brought on by concussion) - it is horrendous and can so easily be avoided in a lot of cases.
