Hello,

I recently bought a KPWN 4year old. Just looking at his passport and researching his breeding. His sire was a harness horse and have just noticed that my horse is registered as a harness horse (TP) in his passport. I obviously bought him as a riding horse - just wondered if this would make any difference to his resale value? He rides well and has a very impressive pop on him - not to mention rather good movement.

Thanks,

J

Sorry, can't help, but didn't realise there was a distinct classification on the passport for what they are

Nor did I until I came across some classification info. So RP is riding horse, GP is Gelders horse (gelderlander) and TP is Tuigpaard - harness horse!

If you were asking alot of money for him then people would probably have knowledge of the KWPN and would probably be looking at him from his breeding lines. There are certain lines that people seem to look for in the more expensive horses i.e. dressage and showjumping.
If you were not aiming at that market I don't think many people would worry too much and just be looking at the horse for what he is and how he moves.

Mr President is a tuig paard and so was Kirsty Mephams Dikkiloo, and my first dresage horse, who taught me to 'ask nicely' and who took me to the dutch national champs was also a carrige horse. Until not so long ago many of the German stallions in their grading had to pull a carriage. So no i dont think having TP on his papers will affect his value, if he's good at his job then thats what matters and many of them are good at their jobs!
