Horse lame on his near fore and I'm panicking, no swelling, no heat anywhere.

He was shod Thursday morning, rode him that evening and he was fine.
Friday, yesterday and today he's lame, thought it might be a bruised sole because our fields are very stony but washed his foot out and can't find any indication, no sore spots.

Could it be a nail from him being shod on Thursday?
I don't know whether that would have shown that evening or not?

Could it be early stages of abscess?

He's baring weight on it fine, not that noticeable in walk, better on grass.

Meant to be going to Welsh Amateur's next week :(

Has anyone got any suggestions?

Am going to call Farrier and get him to come out tomorrow I think.

are all the hooves the same length? He could just be a bit footsore, my mare went like it not so long ago - she was ok within a couple of days.

I would say that a nail bind is very possible, if not, an abscess could be the problem. Either way the farrier should be able to help you. :)
