My filly has got really bad lice I took her rug off as advised by vet and used lice powder daily after three weeks of use she is still running alive, my friend advised me to full clip her as her coat is really thick but im worried as she is only coming up a year next month. Has any one had or still have the same problem or know what can help?

NOOOO lice powder does NOTHING :( our vet gave us something really strong which kills lice straight away :) you can literally see them dropping off.....i cant remember what its called though :( ill find out tomorrow if you want :D x

Although it's not licenced in the UK Spot On is in France, and we use that.
I pour it along their backs and manes but my vet said the FEI vets dilute it with a little water and washing up liquid and spray the whole horse (bar it's eyes of course).
It does do the trick and I have used that or a similar product for 4 years now, eliminating the need for the powder (which is rubbish anyway).
You could try Frontline spray, I seem to remember that works on lice too.
Check with your vet re Spot on but mine reckons it's ok.

Frontline spray from the vet, about £20, dont forget to wash all of your head collars rugs, brushes etc or you can double dose ivermectin wormer but check with your vet first. Good luck!
