I am hoping to loan the shire out on Saturday. Has anyone got a standard loan agreement they could show me?

Pm me if you prefer. Thanks in anticipation.

If you go onto the BHS site they have a standard loan agreement on there you can tweak to your own way!.

I agree - when I loaned out my horse I used the standard one from this site - they are very good.

I recommend having three copies. One for you, one for the owner and one in the horses passport (remember to have your name put in as the registered keeper.)

Check out the British Horse Society's website. They have a standard loan agreement to print off or work from. When I loaned my horse out I used it as a basis and just tweaked it to suit my horse and circumstances. Good luck with the loan!

Thanks everyone. I did go on the BHS website before I posted, but I couldnt find anywhere pointing to a loan agreement. I will have another look.

Here's the link. I've used it before and cant find any flaws. Just add/remove/edit slightly to suit yourself.

Sorry to hijack your post. I have now found a lovely sharer for my chestnut boy and we are in the middle of drafting up a contract. We have also used this BHS template.

You know the part which says 'for the loan of' - what should I replace that with ?? My horse is only being shared 3 days per week. Should I change to say 'part loan' ? I don't want to use the word 'share' as this could indicate a share in ownership.....

Put 'part loan', and in a separate paragraph, define EXACTLY what you mean by that, ie. how many days per week etc.

Wouldn't hurt to get your final 'tweaked' version checked by a solicitor.

PM me your email address and I'll send you copies of the ones I have which are permanent loan ones, but you can easily change them to suit - based on BHS and checked over by the lawyers I slave for - have to have some benefits of working in IT for them.
