My ID X has got numerous lumps and bumps under his skin and one sarcoid that is fairly large on his inside fore. Vet has looked at these and as they cause no problems riding and are no changing or growing decided leave them alone as it doesn't seem to bother him. Previous owners tried to treat with Camerosa with no success.

Over the last week or so he has developed firstly a small round bald patch on his lip and now a swelling on between his nostrils and a small swelling above. First thought was panic more sarcoid's but I have liberally applied an anti-chew formula to his stables and fence posts to try and calm OH who is rather upset at destruction of very expensive new facilities! Ben has taken no notice of this and continues to chew - just wondered if anyone has any ideas as to whether it could be the cause or if it is infact more dreaded sarcoids...??!

how big are these lumps? my mare had fairly hard lumps about 1-2 centimetres in diameter. she had them all over her muzzle, as well as her face and neck. didnt bother her at all, i used a cold towel and rubbed her down and the swellings went down slightly, rugs were took off and she had her neck hosed. worked a treat! the lumps turned out to be a reaction to fly bites caused by straw!

also i read that its normal for horses to get warts on their muzzle. didnt read too much into it so dont count me on that

Thanks for the suggestions! Unfortunately this morning have been out and they appear to have merged together and are looking like breaking through the skin shortly. I feel sorry for the poor horse as its looking distinctly like new sarcoid's now. He doesn't seem to bothered by it so will have to keep any eye on it and see what develops....

It is very unusual for sarcoids to grow and change as quickly as that (24hrs) it is much more likely that they are an allergic response, would not hurt to give your vet a call tomorrow unless the swelling increases dramatically when I would give him a call today.

Ah thanks for that. I should put a picture on really it is the shape and the mottled effect under the skin that made me think that it looked like Sarcoid's. He has so many lumps and bumps all over him under the skin it does look rather like one of those. They are not worsening so will call vet tomorrow as suggested and see what they say!
