help mare in season or not odd behavior

I hope I don't get jugde for this question but, I bought my first mare 3 months ago, basically cut a long story short, when im grooming her she is ''twisting'' her bum to me and lifting her tail and bringing her head round to me. im guessing she is in season as I have seen her doing it to one of the geldings, but im not sure. im just wondering if anyone else has had a mare do this to them and if it is just because she is in season. she isn't being mean or nasty and not what some would call mareish thankfully
 
May be she wants you to scratch her bum? I know of both mares and geldings who love a bum scratch (you can scratch on either side of the tail or on tailbone).
 
If you see this behaviour every 3 weeks, it is probably because she is in season but if she does it every time you groom her, she just wants you to scratch/groom her in a particular place.
