Ok - totally honest opinions please. I want to bring my youngster in at night during winter. He has been backed recently and I would love to have him in and establish a routine and learn some disciplin. He has been out 24/7 all his life.

Current deal:

1. TB Mare: Part livery for £65 per week
2. NF Gelding: Grass livery £20 per week

Total: £360 per month.

Potential new deal:

To have them both on part livery. As my YO is so SUPER she said she would do me a deal for my NF for £45 instead of £65.

Total: £440 per month.

Is this getting ridiculous in terms of how much I am spending on horses?

Personally, if money is a bit of an issue, I'd leave the youngster out, best place for him really!! You can still to some groundwork, and establish a routine without having him in!

I could afford it - but its still huge isnt it? I think there si a limit on what one should spend! or is there.....

I can't go DIY because I leave my house for work in London at 7.15am and return 6.45pm. Its too much.

I guess its never ending with horses - how much is too much!?

I suppose you could use your mares stable to bring the youngster in to while she is turned out and get him used to being in for short periods instead?

How old is your boy? if he is very young I wouldnt bother, if he has been turned away after being backed and this is his last winter before he starts being worked properly i might be more tempted to get him in and in to routine

which end? isnt there cheaper yards? im in kent and paying £85 DIY i also throw other peoples horses out feed them for free cant someone at ur yard do that?

Thought of that. DIY is £35 and I am being offered part livery for £45. For the extra ten quid its not worth all the work and effort for DIY! Either way its stiallot isn’t it. I would never move from my current yard. I have great friends there and the YO is outstanding.

If you can afford it and don't mind paying it, then do it, but the fact your asking the question surely means you'd rather not
