I am taking something back to the saddlery shop and will be getting a credit note. It's not massive but there are a few things I would like but might never use so is it worth buying?? These are:

- A Body protector. I did some XC the other day. Neither me nor horse were any good and both lack confidence. If I want to do it again really need a body protector and think i would give me much more confidence but I might never go to the XC course again and I'm never going to compete seriously at it, so is it worth it??

- A show jacket. I'd love to show/show jump/dressage but it'd only ever be at riding club level, so should I get a black/navy jacket (or I have a cob, can I dressage/jump in tweed??) stock and shirt etc, just in case I find the nerves to enter a RC comp?? But then I might never get round to it??!

Arrgghh!

Both would be items that you would prob use if you had and are both very useful to have.
I would get tweed jacket rather than black or navy and then you can do everything

I made the mistake of buying a black jacket a few years ago and had to go out and get a tweed aswel as felt silly in showing class!

Yes and Yes

because if you have got the gear then you'll have no excuse not to practice or go off and enjoy having a go.

You will never be any good unless you practice, once you have practiced then you won't have any excuses not to go because you you'll have all the gear sat in in your wardrobe waiting to get used!

Perfect sence all round, now go get kitted out!!!

and stop looking for reasons to feel less guilty about getting something else with your credit note!
